Have Craft Basket • Will Travel

Just a quick post today because I'm about to fix dinner and watch "Bad Teacher" with Brian while I work on some hand applique for a new pattern I'm making.

We spent quality time together shopping for a hot water heater and a water softener today. Since we drove out to Valpo I decided to take along a basket of ornaments to stitch up while he drove. Do you see felt cookies in there? Do you think they will be going on my sweet shop Christmas tree? If you said yes, you are right!

So we found what we were looking for, did some price shopping, and have decided what we are going to get. Now to find a contractor/plumber to install them!

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend.

  1. The joys of home ownership! I went along on one of my husband's THREE trips to Lowe's today. At least you got some crafting in, too.

  2. We got a new roof this week - a real budget buster.

But I love how you turned what could have been a less-than-fun shopping trip into stitching time! Waiting to see your cute finished ornaments.

  3. Not my first choice for a shopping trip but sometimes you gotta do those things.
Your tree is going to be adorable.

  5. Well, not such fun things to shop for... but it's goes along with home ownership... Ever notice these things seem to happen right around the holidays? At least I've noticed that in my own personal experience. You sure made some fun out of it, can't wait to see the tree all decorated!! :)

  6. Glad you found what you needed and got some crafting done along the way :)
I always bring projects in the car too. But Jesse told me I'm not allowed to bring an exacto knife in the car anymore...fun hater!

  11. We went to Lowes yesterday to pick out pavers. At least that was a little more fun than water heaters, lol! I can't craft or read in the car or I get a headache. :(

  13. I hate buying things for the house that are needed, not fun but what would you do without. Love your sweet shop Christmas tree idea.

  14. Most of my crafting is not portable. I do spend quality time w/ my husband on Saturday mornings as we go to estate sales. We discuss and solve all our siblings and world issues while rolling down the roads!

  15. That's awesome that you can take some of your crafting with you like that. Generally I don't craft in the car although sometimes I do work on brainstorming or other planning. I'm glad that you and your husband had a lot of quality time yesterday, even though some of it did involve running errands. I'm glad that it was a productive trip, too.

(I went to Valparaiso University for undergrad. Always nice to hear that someone has headed that way.)

  16. Yep! I saw those felt cookies. =)
I think we need a water softener here at our house. Did you buy one today? If so, how much did it cost?

  17. I can never craft in the car, I get dizzy...but it would be great if I could. A few times throughout the year we visit my in-laws. They live an 8-hour drive away...so if I could craft in the car, those trips could be the perfect opportunity to do so.
