Mom's Vintage Sewing Box

Do you have something in your home that you will never get rid of? For me it's the sewing box that belonged to my mother. She let me have it when she gave up sewing years ago. I've seen similar ones at stores but they are nothing like the old original. They are much smaller and made with much thinner wood. I love the way it opens up to expose all your tools and notions at a glance, yet folds up quickly into a smaller space. This one actually looks good for it's age.

  1. I always like to see pictures of your assistants :-) And about the Oreo's.... There are 15 in the dessert but there were 16 in the box. One of those cookies magically disappeared from my kitchen!

  2. Hi Sheryl, I too have my mother's sewing box and it's exactly like yours. I store all my goldwork supplies in it. It sits beside my desk, and when I use it I think of my mother sitting in the lounge room sewing away.
    Thanks for sharing.

  4. What a wonderful sewing basket your mom gave you. I don't blame you for not wanting to ever get rid of it.

  6. What a treasure! And it's well-designed (like your murphy bed -- out of sight when not in use).

  7. My mom has one almost just like this! I love that everything tucks back inside when not in use.
