This barn owl is no longer with us. We released him last year.
Our tortoise, this guy weighs in at 60 pounds. That's a large bath towel he's on.
This crane belonged to the zoo. They have not yet come to get it. Look at the back of the head. I think my texturizing is hiding his beautiful crown.
This barred owl was just recently released.
Oh yes, one of my favorites! This is Ghost, a 14 foot Albino Burmese Python. It doesn't live with us, it was just visiting. It belongs to the zoo and we were treating it for a little skin infection.
These are called rheas. They stand about 5 feet tall. Doc ordered them from somewhere. Who knows where though. I think he just likes to collect odd animals. They were actually hamming it up for the camera. They have so much personality!
Hey! I get these in my backyard! This guy was orphaned so we have to play mom until he can take care of himself. Isn't he cute? We had 4 of them but one didn't make it. He was hit by a car and we couldn't save him :(
This is our resident rooster. He lives with us and sometimes he likes to get out of the fence and I actually had to take him out of some one's car one day because they left the hatch open. Silly guy!
Well, I hope you enjoyed the pictures of Howard's little (and big) friends.
My favorite is the rooster pic :)
ReplyDeleteAmazingly wonderful to care for so many special creatures!
ReplyDeleteYour job looks like an animal lover's paradise. Great pictures, and interesting stories.
ReplyDeleteEverything was so cute...until I got to the snake. Eeeek! That made me shiver. I admire your bravery to work with such unusual animals. (I realize I'm a fraidy cat when it comes to snakes, spiders, sharks, all the scary "s" animals, and I'm okay with that.) :)
ReplyDeleteI love the fawn and the barred owl :) What a fun job you have!
ReplyDeleteWow! A veritable petting zoo!
ReplyDeleteI'm partial to turtles and tortoises... Ours is a water turtle —we call him Face.
I absolutely enjoyed Howard and his friends, that phython was quite scary:)
ReplyDeleteWell, Howard has some mighty fine friends!
ReplyDeleteKudos to you for dedicating your time to helping animals!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visit. You sure have a bunch of cute critters..must be so fun! :D
ReplyDeleteyou have quite a selection of animals there. I doubt that the vet around here sees much other than dogs and cats.
ReplyDeleteThat must be a really fun place to work sometimes
Sher, Thank you for the work you do rehabbing these animals. Especially the owls! I love owls too.
ReplyDeleteHoward seems so sweet! What an amazing job to take care of these animals. Have you seen that Imax movie "Into the Wild" yet?
ReplyDeleteI love the tortoise. I have an adult red eared slider. She's huge but not 60lbs huge.
