Note From The Boss

How would you like to arrive at work to find this note from your boss? We have two snake rooms at the clinic and this one is right next to the break room. We probably have 60 to 70 snakes that vary from about 12 inches to about 10 feet long. Occasionally one tries to escape during cleaning time.

We did find the snake later that day, and it was not a poisonous one.

  1. Geez, I hate snakes. I think I would have a hard time doing my job till that little guy got back in his cage :)

  2. Thank goodness it was just a little one. I guess it helps that you are around them. I think it would creep me out to know there was a snake on the loose.

  3. haha... i used to work at a pet store, know all about that one! We had critters loose ALL the time! Including the occasional snake. I think they used to have parties at night when no one was there. We'd have to hunt down escapees most mornings. My dog thought it was the best game ever, mice herding!

  4. Sounds like you have an exciting job. My first question when I saw that sign would be "is it a poisonous one?" Glad it wasn't.

  5. Yes, I do believe that sign would be quite unnerving to see first thing when arriving at work! Thankfully it was just a little snake!

  7. Eeeeek! I am terrified of snakes. This would have been a nighmare for me, but it sounds like you handled it with grace. :)

  8. Omg! I don't think I could concentrate on work knowing there was a snake loose in the office, even if it was a baby one. :)

  9. Oh my, that would scare the crap out of me. I'm so glad that you found it at least.

  10. Nope. Found a snake several feet long in my old house. One of the disadvantages of living by the water were the water moccasins. Shiver. Those are poisonous.

Glad the escape artist was found.

  11. As a small child, living in India, I was being taken for my daily walk when I saw what looked like an empty snake-skin. I'd picked them up several times before. Alas, this time the snake was still occupied in shedding it's skin, objected strongly to the interruption and decided to let me know about it by chasing me off. I only had little legs at the time, and fortunately for me - it was a poisonous one (variety unknown even now) and one of the tea-pluckers saw what was happening, threw a rock and killed the snake mid-chase. While he got a financial rewaard (there was always a bounty on offer for such actions), I got the biggest scare of my life - and my lifelong dislike of anything reptilian!

That's one job I would not like where you work, Sher!
