We made our usual weekend trip to the Dunes, but this time we changed things up a little. We decided to start on Trail 7, take it to the beach, walk the beach, then climb up the GIANT dune that takes us to Trail 9. What a smart move! Not only did we get a killer workout, I found that beautiful, big mushroom. I would definitely call this day a "Mushroom Search Success." The large one was at least 18 inches across. We found that one on Trail 7. I did have to climb down a little embankment to photograph it, but it was worth it. The smaller ones on the logs are actually in my own subdivision.
As
you can see in one of the photographs, there was a big and steep hill we
had to climb, and what you are seeing is only about a quarter of it! I have however, come to the conclusion that every dune or hill I climb, gets me
that much closer to my goal of mastering Trail 8 once again.
Wow, that's a great mushroom find! Love the bright color too!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a good day, thank you for sharing the video. I love the sound of the waves... Very relaxing!
That's one steep trail! And one huge mushroom!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on getting yourself one step closer to your goal :)
Such a beautiful place. The "beach" has waves!!! And the mushrooms are such a pretty color, too!
ReplyDeleteThe pictures are beautiful. I am enchanted by the seashore... We only have dunes in the deserts here where I live, and I miss the sea very much. You are so fortunate to live close to it.
ReplyDeleteOf course the mushrooms are mega :) Are they edible?
Holy cow, I've never heard of a mushroom that big! That's like something out of Alice in Wonderland.
ReplyDeleteIve never seen one that big. Are they edible?
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if they are edible. They look like chicken of the woods, which are edible. From what I've read though they say you will never find that mushroom coming up from the ground and that's where I saw that one. I suppose there could have been a stump or log under the dried up leaves.
DeleteIncredible photos, and I loved the video -- complete with the sound of waves crashing against the shore. There is something calming about watching water -- lakes or oceans. And I miss that in Nebraska.
ReplyDeleteJust love Lake Michigan. Wish I lived a bit closer.
ReplyDeleteThat's a steep sand dune! Looks like a beautiful hike and I'm always amazed at how the lake looks like an ocean! :)
ReplyDeleteThat mushroom is gorgeous! What a great color. I've been trying to shoot more videos lately, too. They're a great asset for articles and blog posts.
