Pumpkin's Favorite Cat Toy

For some people the rubber hairbands are to be used to put one's hair up into a ponytail. For my Pumpkin, it's her favorite cat toy. We have a ritual every morning. She waits for me right outside the shower. When I'm finished I turn on the water faucet for a slow stream so she can take a drink. She likes that too. Then I go to the doorknob where I have about a half dozen hanging and I give her one to play with. She plays all morning with that until I leave for work and I put it away. The reason I don't leave her with it is because she likes to eat weird things like rubber bands and plastic grocery bags. She's never tried to eat the hair bands but you just never know when you have a strange little cat.

Back when I had three cats living with me I went out and bought a kitty condo. You've seen them, they are covered with carpet and have little "rooms" inside for them to go in and out of and are in a tubular shape. Well, that thing sat there untouched until I sold it at a garage sale a couple years later. But that said, if I was to empty a case of pop or a paper grocery bag (you remember those, I know you do), they'd play and go in and out for hours!

Cats are so entertaining!

  1. It is the same with my little ones. They prefer playing with paper and empty boxes sometimes to their toys. Have an awesome Monday!

  2. Cats are so inquisitive! It's always funny to watch them with an empty bag -- and if Oliver can find a box (empty or not) to sleep in, he's in heaven!

  3. Too funny! My cat Benny loves those same hair ties...granted I don't use them anymore because my hair is too short to tie back...but I still have some lying around. Benny however...once he tires from playing with it...DOES eat it! So he no longer gets them...silly cats.

  4. Isn't it funny what our pets chose to play with! Kids can be the same way... I remember when my kids were little, they'd open their gifts and then play with the wrapping and the boxes more than the toy itself! :)

Enjoyed your post. Funny kitties! Thanks for sharing!

  5. I found my cloth belt on the stairs this morning. I have two 12 year old cats. Their favorite good time seems to be giving my daughter's small dog a run for his money!

  6. I love the pic of Pumkin! My cat Baxter used to love paper bags and like your cat the ties for my hair. He also couldn't resist getting in the laundry basket! I love watching cats play, they are so funny. Sadly my Baxter had to be put down and I still cry about it. He was 13 years old and my best buddy. I love cats so much. Here's to pumkin living a long and happy life! ♥

  7. Reminds me of little kids, who love playing with pots for hours instead of their toys:):) Your cat is so cute:)

  8. LOL, that's too funny. Sounds a little like the routine I used to have when I had a cat. I also bought one of those kitty condos. Never got used other than maybe a step stool. He did love those boxes and bags though. Paper was another favorite of his. Put some paper out and he was on it in a second

  9. LOL I am glad I'm not the only one who hangs hair bands on her doorknob! I have a friend who's cat loves Q-tips. She hides them all over the house!

  10. MY cat's name is "Pumpkin"! Well, it's "Punkin" but we never call him that. He's always called "KeeKee" because that's what I scream to call him up from the pasture. He came as a blessing to me when I was living in CO. I flew him back to TX with me and he's like my own child! He's extrememly athletic and flies from tree to tree. =) I love bragging on him! Oh he's a red and white Maine Coon with with gorgeous long hair and white snow boots.

My cats LOVE those exact hair bands, too! I buy the same ones just for them! I'm just crazy about cats (I have 8!) and could watch them and talk about them forever. =)
