Lost Camera - A Good Tip!

I've posted this once before, but I think that with Summer coming and more people will be taking their cameras along, it's time to re-post!

Not everyone is like me and takes their camera everywhere they go, but this is the time of year when people will be taking their cameras a lot more often. I recently found a camera in the shoe department at Bass Pro. Yes, of course I turned it into customer service, however, I would have preferred to have been able to contact the owner myself. That way I would have known that the person would have gotten their camera back, because I would have returned it myself, or told customer service that the owner knows where to come get it. In this incident, I'm trusting that customer service department has honest personnel.

What you need to do is to type up in a large font, your name, email address, and phone number in your word processor or graphics program. If you don't have one, you can even write this information on a big piece of paper. Next, take a photo of this information. Never delete this photo! If you do, just repeat the steps above.

Now, in order for this tip to work, a very  honest person must find your camera. I like to think that there are more honest people than not, so hopefully, if you leave your camera behind on a bus or at a restaurant, you will have a better chance of getting your camera back.

Have a fun Summer and take LOTS of pictures!

  1. This is a great idea, and I'll listen to your advice for sure!
    Thanks. Have a great weekend,

  2. What a great idea! That's a nice little project for the weekend. Let's hope I'll never forget my camera, but if it happens, that an honest person finds it.

  3. that is a great idea and hopefully should anyone leave their camera somewhere it is found by an honest person

  4. What a great tip! Now that I have an SLR, my camera is one of the most important things that I carry with me. And I don't have ANY identification on it. I will be changing that in the near future...

  5. That's a great tip Sher! I, too, carry my camera with me everywhere I go, there's always so many things I want to take pictures of... Lots of inspiration out there. I never really thought about how important it would be to have identification on the camera in case it's lost. Thanks for sharing!

  6. I can't agree more! Thanks for sharing :)

  7. I certainly have my name in my camera now. I learned the hard way. Once I left my (expensive) camera in a park. I told the local police about it and then gave up hope of ever seeing it again. An HONEST person found it and put an ad in the paper. The police saw the ad, called me, and said they thought they found my camera. And they had! This HONEST person wanted no reward. She even had people calling her offering her money for it, but she wanted it to get back to its rightful owner.
another thought--if on vacation, add your local address and phone #/contact information
